Daniel O’Reilly is a British author, artist and musician living in Spain. He is currently producing his first published collection of short stories entitled 'Everything is Cake', inspired by the engravings of Spanish artist Francisco de Goya.
In 2024 he performed music and performance art compositions at the Centenary of Surrealism exhibition at Maison André Breton in France. He also exhibited fiction, photographs and music at the International Exhibition of Surrealism in Cairo & Alexandria, Egypt.
Daniel's short stories have been published in numerous literary journals and yearbooks. He was awarded 'Contributor of the Month' for short fiction by Zoetic Press in 2024 for the short story 'Everything is Cake', and has published fiction in the Margate Bookie Zine, Alien Buddha Zine, Trilobite Literary Journal, Tiny Spoon, Writer's Block, and Black Flowers Literary magazine, amongst others.
Daniel’s short stories weave mundane fiction with surreal irruptions, signalling his interest in 20th Century avant-gardes and the role of magical fiction in political allegory. Living in Spain, and Catalonia in particular, has offered unparalleled inspiration for his research, and his literature reflects a migratory nature.

Daniel began work as a writer producing short films alongside his wife Marianna Magurudumian-O’Reilly. They have screened video art in more than twenty countries.
Together, Marianna and Daniel built The Unstitute: an online art lab hosting their collaborative work, and also featuring permanent and temporary exhibitions of videoart and text art from artists all over the world. The Unstitute is an example of avant-garde web design, and even contains a labyrinth full of traps and dead ends.
